All paintings are by me, Chris Murray, from life, from (mainly) my own photographs, sketches, memory, imagination and inspiration! All are acrylic on canvas on wooden frame, painted also on side and bottom edges, and can be hung as they are. Prices vary with size, with the level of detail, and with how much I like the painting. Because of the recession, prices are on average 50% of what they were two years ago.
FREE SHIPPING. No tax applies in US and EU. 1 Euro = 1.4 dollars approx.

Thank you for visiting, and enjoy!

"...the Fomor have ye in thrall; and upon your minds they have fastened a band of lead.....Believe it, that the sun does shine, the flowers grow, and the birds sing pleasantly in the trees. The free winds are everywhere, the water tumbles on the hills, the eagle calls aloud through the solitude, and his mate comes speedily. The bees are gathering honey in the sunlight, the midges dance together, and the great bull bellows across the river. The crow says a word to his brethren, and the wren snuggles her young in the hedge..... Leave the plough and the cart for a little time; put aside the needle and the awl..... Come away! Come away! from the loom and the desk....Is it for joy you sit in the broker's den, thou pale man? Has an attorney enchanted thee?.....Come away! For the dance has begun lightly, the wind is sounding over the hill, the sun laughs down the valley, and the sea leaps upon the shingle, panting for joy, dancing, dancing, dancing for joy"..... From the song of the Shee (Sidhe) in the "The Crock of Gold" by James Stephens.

"Caoilte, and Conan, and Finn were there
When we followed a deer with our baying hounds
With Bran, Sceolan and Lomair,
And passing the Firbolgs' burial-mounds
Came to the cairn-heaped grassy hill
Where passionate Maeve is stony-still,
And found on the dove-grey edge of the sea
A pearl-pale high-born lady......"

Now living in Kinvara, County Galway, I was born in The Deise (County Waterford). I started painting 7 years ago, and have exhibited at Carlow Eigse Arts Festival, at Kilkenny Arts Week, at Garter Lane Arts Centre with Waterford Homecrafts, and at Galway Arts Week. I have recently completed my own exhibition at Gort Library, and will have another at Galway City Library during the month of April. I also exhibit at the Kinvara Market on Fridays (10AM - 2PM, April - October) and the Nicholas Street Galway Market (off Shop Street) on Sundays, 12 Noon - 5PM, weather permitting.

Thanks to all the great people who gave me lifts to and from the market over the past few years, and who I haven't thanked enough - Gus(Aeneas), Barry, Joe McNight, Anna, Ger and Mandy, Sean Bashford, and all the others.

Painting has transformed my life. Things I have passed without notice for nearly fifty years are now a source of wonder. Art/painting is a huge part of the juice, the soul of my life. It almost completely cured what was a lingering, crippling social phobia, enabling me to visit the wonderful and terrifying Atlantis Commune, even in Colombia, after years of misplaced fear. I’ve lost interest in drink and drugs. Painting grounds my pagan/mystic philosophy in reality. It enables me to see and marvel at the ISness and beauty of things, at the miraculousness of “mere” existence. Apart from my beautiful, wonderful partner, painting was the best thing to happen to me in a long, long while.
